Twoyearslater，attheBattleofTrafalgar，NelsondefeatedthecombinedFrenchandSanishfleets。ThiswasthegreatestnavalvictoryinBritishhistoryandlefttheBritishincontroloftheseasfortherestofthe1800s。Unfortunately，NelsonwasmortallywoundedduringTrafalgarbutlivedlongenoughtoknowthathisfeethadwonthebattle。Hislastwordswere，“ThankGodIhavedonemyduty。”
